Whale Cottage

It was love at first sight when the clients saw the views from this bluff overlooking the open ocean. When they began to imagine a castle-inspired vacation home that would match the scale of the vista, they were delighted when partner Chuck Dietsche turned to Melville’s Moby-Dick as a way to come to terms with the epic task.  The result was a shingled cottage on a human scale with allusions to whaling and sandcastles that frames the views while providing balanced and contemplative spaces for rejuvenation and entertaining.
